Tracking the Spend: CDT's 5 Largest Vendors of IT Goods in FY 2023-24

The largest sum spent in certain categories of IT goods, $14,923,668, went to Crayon Software Experts LLC for software maintenance and support, and maintenance or support fees.

The California Department of Technology (CDT) spent almost $96 million in Fiscal Year 2023-24 on its five largest buys in the category of IT goods.

According to the State Contracting and Procurement Registration System, CDT spent $95,879,384 of the $96,457,692 total spend on contracts classified by the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code as “IT Goods,” which includes certain services as well as hardware and software. Those five largest buys, with rounding, were for:
  • $67,034,605 for “Computer services (software maintenance and support, maintenance or support fees),” which was 69.5 percent of the $95.8 million. Within this subcategory, the largest sum, $14,923,668, went to Crayon Software Experts LLC.
  • $16,000,000 for “Computer services (software maintenance and support, point of sale software maintenance services),” which was 16.59 percent of the $95.8 million. All of the $16 million in this subcategory went to Insight Public Sector Inc.
  • $10,245,920 for “Computer services (system and system component admin services, computer or network security),” which was 10.6 percent of the $95.8 million. The largest sum in this subcategory, $6,725,093, went to Direct Systems Support.
  • $2,061,433 for “Components for IT — system boards, processors, interfaces or modules — serial infrared ports,” for 2.14 percent of the total. All of the spending in this subcategory was with iBridge Cloud Technologies Inc.
  • $537,426 for “Politics and civic affairs services (public admin and finance services, public administration, administrative fees or tax collection),” for 0.56 percent of the total. The total in this subcategory was spent with Banc of America Public Capital Corp.
