The state department that assists parents in navigating the child support process made 22 purchases of IT services from Jan. 1-June 30 and spent well over $11 million on the top five.

The California Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) spent exactly $11,924,825.50 on its five most expensive such purchases, the majority of that with one vendor. Here, with rounding, is what that money paid for, based on data in the State Contracting and Procurement Registration System:

  • $8.3 million to Talx Corp., now Equifax Workforce Solutions, for employment and income verification services via Equifax’ The Work Number. This is a roughly three-year contract from April 18-April 30, 2025.
  • $1.4 million to HHS Technology Group for “DevOps augmentation support services.” This is a two-year contract from June 6-June 6, 2024.
  • $1.2 million to AgreeYa Solutions for “batch operations support services” around software or hardware engineering, and system or application programming management. This is a two-year contract from March 23-March 22, 2024.
  • $549,000 to System Soft Technologies for business function-specific software around enterprise architecture, document scanning and services redesign. This is a two-year contract, from April 20-April 19, 2024.
  • $498,000 to Gartner for “Gartner for Enterprise IT Leadership” for the enterprise architecture team. DCSS made the purchase Feb. 25.
