Tracking the Spend: Emergency Services’ Top IT Goods Purchases Through June

The department’s five largest transactions for IT goods during the year’s first and second quarters topped $10 million.

A structure burning at night.
The state department responsible for being proactive about addressing risks, vulnerabilities and threats statewide made 185 purchases of IT goods from Jan. 1-June 30 and spent more than $10 million on the top five.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) spent exactly $10,080,084.23 on its five most expensive such purchases, most of which happened during the year’s second quarter. Here, with rounding, is what that money paid for, based on data in the State Contracting and Procurement Registration System:

  • $3 million to Taborda Solutions for “CON-PM Project Manager,” likely the consulting services of a project manager for computer software or hardware. Cal OES made the purchase June 15. (Taborda Solutions and Enterprise Networking Solutions were purchased in August 2021 by Fulcrum Technology Group.)
  • $3 million to Taborda Solutions for “CON-PM Project Manager.” Cal OES made the purchase June 16.
  • $1.8 million to Launch Consulting for installation and services related to text-to-911 data collection services. Cal OES made the purchase May 17.
  • $1.2 million to Taborda Solutions for Salesforce Service Cloud unlimited edition. Cal OES made the purchase March 29.
  • $1.1 million to Taborda Solutions for “CON-CE Consulting Engineer,” likely the services of a consulting engineer for IT consulting. Cal OES made the purchase June 9.
