From July 1-Sept. 30, the Office of the Secretary of the California Government Operations Agency made nine purchases of IT goods and spent $1,795,691.42 on its five most expensive buys in that area – most of that with one company. Here’s more information, with rounding, on what the department spent:
- $1.6 million to Gov Bloom for “discovery and research facilitation services,” apparently for the period of June 22-June 22, 2023. The office made the purchase Aug. 29.
- $150,000 to Solutions Simplified for “AWS US West – Snowflake Data Platform – Business Critical Edition,” potentially a purchase of the Snowflake Platform, which the company indicates is a “single, global platform that powers the Data Cloud”; and in the west region of Amazon Web Services. The office made the purchase Sept. 1.
- $35,000 to Natix for 14-inch Apple MacBook Pro laptops. The office made the purchase Aug. 15.
- $7,000 to Natix for examples of CalDigit’s 15-port Thunderbolt 3 Dock, which the company indicates are appropriate for “Thunderbolt 3 Mac and PC users who need to connect multiple devices to their laptops.” The office made the purchase Aug. 15.
- $4,000 to Smile Business Products for maintenance on its “large” Sharp office printer. The contract term is July 1-June 30, 2023; the office made the purchase Aug. 26.
