Tracking the Spend: State Tech Department’s IT Services Purchases in Third Quarter

The department’s five largest transactions in this area reached the mid-seven figures.

The state’s technology department made 12 purchases of IT services during the year’s third quarter and spent nearly $7 million on the top five.

The California Department of Technology spent exactly $6,967,127 on its five most expensive such buys. Here, with rounding, is what that money paid for, based on data in the State Contracting and Procurement Registration System:

  • $3.5 million to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation as reimbursement for software maintenance and support. This is the result of a two-year pact, from July 22-July 22, 2024.
  • $2.1 million to Galaxy Solutions for independent project oversight consulting. This is a two-year contract, from July 19-July 18, 2024.
  • $500,000 to Valley Communications for telecom cabling services. This is also a two-year contract from July 1-June 30, 2024.
  • $500,000 to Valley Communications in a separate transaction for telecom cabling services. This is also a two-year contract from July 1-June 30, 2024.
  • $394,000 to Gartner for “Gartner for IT Executives.” This is a one-year contract from July 1-June 30, 2023.
