Two CIOs to Speak at Industry Insider Member Briefing
Catherine Lanzaro, CIO of the California Department of Child Support Services, and Jennifer Chan, CIO of the California State Lottery, will discuss their priorities and goals on Nov. 30 in Sacramento.
The technology leaders from two departments in state government will speak at a live Industry Insider — California Member Briefing later this month.
The event begins with registration at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, followed by the briefing from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Registration is available online, and attendance is open to members of Industry Insider — California.
The chief information officers speaking at the event are both veterans of state government who’ve been featured in Industry Insider “One-on-One” interviews.
Catherine Lanzaro is CIO for the California Department of Child Support Services (DCSS), which oversees a network of 47 local child support agencies that provide services to the public at the county level. DCSS records all child support payments, provides a neutral go-between for parents, and can help both parents avoid court and help with navigating the child support system. DCSS has a total budget of over $1 billion from federal and state sources.
Lanzaro has 36 years of technology, business and management experience in California state government and is a graduate of the California Department of Technology’s Information Technology Leadership Academy. In June 2022, she was named CIO of the Year by the California Public Sector CIO Academy. Lanzaro was featured in a “One-on-One” interview in April 2021.
Jennifer Chan, who has been CIO for the California State Lottery since January 2021, also has deep experience in state technology governance. She was previously special projects administrator for the Employment Development Department and, before that, was agency chief information officer for the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) for nearly two years. Before joining the public sector, Chan worked for Informatix Inc. for nearly seven years. She was featured in “One-on-One” interviews in her CDFA role in March 2020 and in her current role in August 2021.
Industry Insider Member Briefings offer insight into public-sector CIOs’ goals, priorities and philosophies. The events generally include a question-and-answer session at the end of each speaker’s presentation.
