Roche, based in the Boston area, has been in the technology sector for three decades, having begun as a software engineer and moving up through the industry in the ensuing years. He’s held management and executive roles with companies including EMC, Dell EMC, Cognizant and Medidata Solutions before joining Veracode as senior vice president for engineering and cloud operations, then moving up to chief product officer and now to the CEO role.

“It is a true privilege to serve as CEO of Veracode, the industry leader in application risk management,” Roche told Industry Insider — California via email. “I have had a front-row seat to witness the rapid change our industry is now undergoing and the numerous innovations Veracode has produced to meet the security demands of today. Leading our AI vision and strategy has given me the tools to lead Veracode through its next phase of growth and success.

“This position, along with various leadership roles and defining moments in roles at EMC, Cognizant, and Medidata, have prepared me to become CEO of Veracode. … I am proud to continue growing the company’s innovative edge,” Roche added.

He said his top priority as CEO “is to serve Veracode’s mission: to secure the world’s software. This remains unchanged. But as the industry moves faster than we’ve ever seen before, we are prepared to be nimble. Our strategy is to be aggressive, so we are seen as the security technology of choice for the rapid development of cloud-native and AI applications.”

Roche noted the growing role of artificial intelligence and its importance to government.

“AI has become a part of our lives every day — our mission is securing it and leveraging it to our competitive advantage,” he said. “As we face the next frontier of software security and risk management, fueled by rapid AI advancements and the proliferation of cloud-native technology adoption, we are prepared to support our customers through this transformation.”

He added: “Veracode staked an early leadership position with our first-to-market AI-powered solution Veracode Fix, and we’re putting our foot on the gas to extend that leadership. … In the coming year, we’re taking a huge leap in this direction by integrating Longbow Security with our existing suite of products to offer customers a one-stop solution for detecting, prioritizing and remediating security risks from code to cloud. … I’m honored and humbled to lead Veracode in its next chapter.”

In addition to holding numerous professional credentials, Roche has also been a member of the Cloud Foundry Board, serving as a strategic technology adviser. He is a graduate of St. Tiernan’s, majoring in computer science, and of Berklee College of Music, where he received his master’s degree in writing and production.

In his LinkedIn profile, Roche says he’s an avid athlete, musician and writer and enjoys channeling his creativity while also supporting youth soccer.
