  • Sacramento’s population has topped 500,000 for the first time, and the city grew at the fastest rate among the 10 largest cities in California, according to new data from the state Department of Finance.
  • Bay Area Rapid Transit is cracking down on scofflaws with the help of digital technology. Fare evaders cited twice in a 12-month period will be reported to the California Franchise Tax Board. It will take money out of a tax refund or lottery winnings.
