Yolo County Community Seeks High-Speed Internet

Yolo County’s Community Services Department issued an RFP on Aug. 8 for high-speed internet services.

Yolo County’s Community Services Department issued an RFP on Aug. 8 for high-speed Internet services.

The utility will be provided for 150 parcels, some in the North Davis Meadows Subdivision. Up to 55 properties in the Binning Tract Subdivision and the Davis Municipal Golf Course will be included.

The department is seeking a vendor that could install conduits under a "dig-once" policy. The hardware would then be installed during a public works project for water supply piping, extending from the city of Davis to each new residential site.

The hardware and services will be placed on unincorporated land. Yolo County’s unincorporated land houses up to 190,000 residents. And the two communities in question are considered underserved communities for broadband access by the California Public Utilities Commission.

The project will be paid for by the developments’ County Service Areas fees, which range depending on home values.

Proposals are due Sept. 21.
