April 22: State Water Board 2016 Data Innovation Challenge Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony for the State Water Board's 2016 Data Innovation Challenge will be held on April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at California Environmental Protection Agency headquarters in Sacramento.

The closing ceremony for the State Water Resource Control Board's 2016 Data Innovation Challenge will be held on April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the California Environmental Protection Agency headquarters at 1001 I St. in downtown Sacramento. Participants are automatically registered for the closing ceremony, but all who register here are invited to attend. The event will also be broadcast via webinar (registrants will receive a link to the webinar after registering for the event).

An agenda for the closing ceremony is available at the State Water Board website. Participants will present their entries and the event will conclude with an awards ceremony.

The Water Board's Office of Information Management and Analysis is hosting a Data Innovation Challenge, which is focusing on creating apps, visualizations and other tools  that can help better harness data that is currently available. Data from the Water Board's California Environmental Data Exchange Network (CEDEN), Stormwater Multiple Application and Report Tracking System (SMARTS) and California Integrated Water Quality System (CIWQS) databases are being highlighted.

In a separate event tonight, April 20, Greg Gearheart, deputy director of the Office of Information Management and Analysis for the State Water Board, will discuss the data initiative at the The Urban Hive at 1931 H St. in Sacramento.
