California to Rebid Purchasing Agreement for 911 Equipment

The goods under the agreement include items such as telephone handsets, telephone cords, headsets, headset cords, headset interface boxes, computer keyboards, computers, printers, uninterruptible power supply, workstations, and wired and wireless connections.

The Office of Emergency Services soon will rebid a master purchase agreement for the state's Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) that take 911 calls.

The goods under the agreement include items such as telephone handsets, telephone cords, headsets, headset cords, headset interface boxes, computer keyboards, computers, printers, uninterruptible power supply, workstations, and wired and wireless connections.

On Friday the office released a draft bid for Customer Premise Equipment and maintenance services. The state would like feedback from the supplier community; responses are due July 28.

The PSAPs will use the purchasing agreement to buy equipment with State Emergency Telephone Number Account (SETNA) funding. The state's 911 branch oversees all purchases.

The technical requirements are divided in two categories: turnkey stand-alone systems and host-remote systems.

"The CA 9-1-1 Branch anticipates that PSAPs will consolidate multiple Call Centers in a region resulting in a move to a combined, Host-Remote Solution or other configuration," the bid document says.

The current purchasing agreement ends at the end of 2016. The current incumbent contractors are AT&T, Carousel Industries, Cassidian Communications, Frontier Communications, Interact Public Safety Systems, Intrado Systems Corp., Solacom Technologies, Tritech and Zetron.
