Company Announces Solar Plant in Riverside

By Fielding Buck, The Press-Enterprise, Riverside, Calif.

A company called SunSpark Technology is planning to open a solar panel plant in Riverside, according to a news release from the city.

SunSpark expects to create 80 manufacturing jobs with the possibility of expanding to 120 jobs. No target date was given for opening.

SunSpark was created earlier this year and has a parent company called Hebei Yiheng Science and Technology in China.

It has 35,000 square feet in SolarMax Techonology’s building on 12th Street for its operation.

Talks with the parent company began 18 months ago when a Riverside delegation its headquarters on a tour of sister city Jiangmen and other cities in China.

After that, International Relations officer Lalit Acharya had ongoing talks with the company, said Cheryl-Marie Hansberger, chief of staff to Mayor Rusty Bailey.

Bailey and Acharya met with SunSpark and SolarMax representatives last week in Riverside.

The announcement coincides with Riverside’s celebration of Manufacturing Day, Oct. 2, when three local companies will open their doors to students from Riverside Unified School District.

The host companies are OSI Group, K&N Engineering and Vocademy.
