Gartner Acquires Capterra

Founded in 1999, Capterra works with thousands of software vendors to understand their products in order to match companies with the software for their needs.

Garter announced on Friday it has acquired Capterra, an Arlington, Va.-based company that recommends software to businesses via a free service.

Founded in 1999, Capterra works with thousands of software vendors to understand their products in order to match companies with the software for their needs. The company’s website features software ratings, reviews, buying guides and comprehensive lists of software products.

“Over the coming months, Gartner will invest in our products, services and team in order for us to provide greater value to our clients.,” Capterra said.

“The acquisition of Capterra is consistent with Gartner’s growth strategy to invest in developing world-class products and services that help clients make the right technology-related decisions, every day,” Gartner said.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
