IFB: CALNET Category 14 Pre-Solicitation

The California Department of Technology's Statewide Technology Procurement Division is seeking industry feedback on pre-solicitation documents for a new CALNET 3 category for Satellite Based High Speed Internet and Terrestrial Based High Speed Internet.

The California Department of Technology's Statewide Technology Procurement Division is seeking industry feedback on pre-solicitation documents for a new CALNET 3 category for Satellite Based High Speed Internet and Terrestrial Based High Speed Internet.

The department summarizes current services available in the pre-solicitation, which was published last week:

"Various State agencies have contracted for best effort high speed internet services for their own use. Category 14 broadband internet services being bid in this IFB are similar to, but are not identical to, those presently contracted by these agencies. The State of California currently has over one thousand broadband internet connections, at multiple state agencies. Additional agencies and connections are likely to be added in the future including e-rate eligible customers.

CALNET 3 is the state’s multibillion-dollar telecommunication procurement providing an array of products and services from pre-qualified vendors to state and local departments and agencies. The first CALNET 3 contracts were awarded in 2013.

Responses to the pre-solicitation are due Dec. 2. More information is available on the state's procurement website.
