Reneé Wynn this week was named CIO of NASA after serving two months as deputy CIO of the space agency.
Wynn joined NASA in July 2015, coming from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency where she had served as the acting assistant administrator for the Office of Environmental Information since July 2013. She had been with EPA for more than 24 years.
“Ms. Wynn has managed program administration for science, information management and international programs; regulatory management; budget formulation and execution; contracts, grants and interagency agreements; long-term strategic planning and analyses; and environmental and administrative policy,” NASA said.
Wynn has a bachelor’s degree in economics from DePauw University in Indiana.
Outgoing NASA CIO Larry Sweet will retire on Nov. 30. He had held the position since 2013 and spent 28 years with the federal government.
NASA has a prominent presence in California at Ames Research Center and several other facilities.
