The Sacramento City Council is scheduled Tuesday to consider amending its contract with Granicus to add a public "eComment" system" to its video streaming service for City Council meetings and other convenings.
Sacramento initially contracted with Granicus in 2001, according to city records, and during the past five years has added video streaming functionality for various commission meetings, delivery of agendas to mobile platforms and instant viewing of vote tabulation.
"The expanded service requested in this supplemental agreement is for the purpose of adding a feature that will allow the public to submit comments for agenda items online. The 'eComments' will be immediately viewable and will post directly to the Council’s iPads," according to a brief from city staff.
The eComment module is able to generate reports analyzing citizen feedback, can publish comments to the public record and is customizable, according to the vendor.
Sacramento spends about $90,000 per year for the Granicus platform, according to the city.
