The city of Stockton this month replaced a 25-year-old legacy system with a new cloud-based online platform for permitting, inspections and plan review, city officials announced.
The streamlined processing is enabling Stockton to reduce permit fees by about 25 percent.
Like similar systems currently in use by other localities, the 24/7 system allows users to check the status of permits on demand and inspectors to file reports on their mobile devices.
“We look forward to huge strides in permit processing efficiency, transparency and accountability,” said Community Development Director David Kwong.
Last month Stockton announced it also had moved its enterprise email system and productivity tools to the cloud.
