The city of Austin has formally adopted a $6.3 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2025-26 that includes $166.8 million for Austin Technology Services (ATS).
That's a nearly 14 percent increase from the $146.5 million budget ATS received last year.
About $111.3 million of ATS’ budget will fund the department’s Information and Technology Fund, which covers general technology operations and services across the city. The remaining funds are divided between the Combined Transportation, Emergency and Communications Center ($34.3 million) and wireless communication services ($21.1 million).
Program-level allocations include $91.8 million for core technology services and $12.3 million for information security, the latter reflecting the full absorption of the previously standalone Information Security Department into ATS.
Additional line items in the adopted budget include increases of $3.1 million for Microsoft Power Platform licenses, $1.5 million for IT consulting services and $1 million for cloud-based applications as part of a broader effort to expand digital services and modernize internal systems.
In an announcement of the budget’s approval, city officials noted that the financial plan aligns with strategic priorities identified by residents and councilmembers alike. These include public safety enhancements, emergency response operations expansions and critical infrastructure projects.
The newly adopted budget takes effect at the beginning of the fiscal year on Oct. 1.
