DIR Goes to Bid for 3D Printers, Imaging, Other Print Services

The department is requesting managed print services, document imaging, enterprise content management products and hardware for establishing and providing contracts to DIR customers.

The Department of Information Resources (DIR) has released a request for offer (RFO) for one or more vendors to provide a wide range of print services including managed printing, copiers, printers, 3D and scanning equipment and related services, document imaging, enterprise content management (ECM) products and software and services for establishing and providing contracts to DIR customers.

DIR released a pre-solicitation notice for the RFO in October.

According to the RFO, “contracts negotiated and managed through the Cooperative Contracts Program resulted in over $8.2 billion in customer purchases for the past three fiscal years combined.”

Managed print services may include but are not limited to maintenance, support services, implementation and project management, asset tracking, installation, technical support, training and more. Contracted hardware, i.e., copiers, printers and scanners, include:
  • Rental, lease, purchase and fleet
  • Portable and stationary
  • Single function and multifunctional
  • Network capable and non-network (standalone)

Additionally, the department is requesting 3D printers for contracting to DIR customers.

Requested document imaging services include document conversion, preservation, preparation, indexing and formatting and more.

Finally, the RFO notice lists enterprise content management software and services and IT-based document management software and services in the request, which can be delivered as an integrated product suite or as separate applications.
