The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is in the research phase of procuring a public health electronic health record solution.
According to a request for information (RFI) released by the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) on behalf of DSHS, the desired solution must store electronic client medical records and case management information, along with any and all key data relevant to the client’s care.
Data to be stored includes demographics, progress notes, diagnoses, laboratory data, radiology reports, medical history and immunizations.
The solution will replace the current environment for the DSHS Public Health Regions and the Texas Center for Infectious Disease Outpatient Clinic, of which there are more than 115 locations across the state.
The current environment requires DSHS staff to manually enter data on paper charts. HHSC estimates more than 500,000 client records from previous years have not been entered into the existing platform due to data entry errors or compatibility issues with disparate IT systems.
More detailed information about RFI No. HHS00016363, including all submission requirements and requests, can be found online. HHSC will not respond to questions related to this RFI. The due date for submissions via email is 10:30 a.m. July 30. Ron Hurley is the point of contact for this solicitation.
