The Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is hiring a director of data infrastructure and technology to direct, coordinate and supervise the Office of Data and Systems Improvement.

“This position supervises the work of highly specialized staff with experience and degrees in statistics, analytics, business intelligence and continuous quality improvement (CQI) practices. The position requires little supervision and has the ability for extensive use of initiative and independent judgment,” according to the job posting.

The successful applicant will:
  • Implement process and performance improvement
  • Evaluate existing processes for data engineering
  • Develop processes with vendors
  • Collaborate on strategic planning and ensure its alignment
  • Collaborate on the agency budget and develop a division budget
  • Manage staff scheduling, assign projects and evaluate staff and contractors
  • Oversee and review reports, documentation and audits
Basic candidate selection will require a four-year degree or equivalent experience, management experience and field experience.

This posting expires Dec. 29, is open to all applicants and has a salary range of $6,681.16 to $11,299.50 per month. According to the organization chart, IT and data-related positions report under Deputy Commissioner Corliss Lawson.

The DFPS IT budget in FY2023 was about $78 million, according to CIO Drew Mcgrath. He said in a May interview that the agency is looking to keep up with data center obligations, manage technical debt, speed up interoperability in community-based care and continue with digital signatures.

The agency recently had a job posting for a chief data and analytics officer in the same division.
