Tracking the Spend: HHSC Spent $180 Million on IT in Q2 2024

The Health and Human Services Commission’s Q2 IT spending is consistent with the previous quarter, which saw the commission spend $177 million.

The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) spent $180 million on IT products and services in the second quarter of 2024.

The commission provides oversight and administrative support for Health and Human Services (HHS), which also includes the Department of State Health Services.

Here are the public safety agency’s top five vendors for Q2, according to the comptroller’s “Payments to Payee” visualization. Amounts are rounded up:
Regarding specific expenditures in Q2, a majority of HHSC’s spending went toward IT services, at $82 million. The commission’s second largest expenditure category was $35 million for computer services via DIR, followed by $21 million for contracted services.

Following Ricardo Blanco’s retirement in June, HHS is currently searching for a replacement CIO.
