HHSC Launches Job Matching Website for Personal Care Attendants

The Direct Care Careers website matches employers and prospective employees based on criteria set by registered users, such as location, expertise and personal preferences.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has launched a new website for personal care attendants and employers who provide home and community-based services.

The Direct Care Careers (DCC) website allows job seekers interested in work as personal care attendants to connect directly with employers — including consumer directed services (CDS) — who have posted job descriptions and specifications on the site.

DCC matches employers and prospective employees based on criteria set by registered users, such as location, expertise, populations served and personal preferences.

“This website can be the starting point in helping people in need,” said Clair Benitez, director of the HHSC Office of Disability Services Coordination, in a news release. “Personal care attendants play a crucial role in acting as a lifeline and allowing people with disabilities to live more independently.”

Future additions to the DCC website by HHSC will include training and workforce-related information, among other additional resources.

HHSC verifies employers who register for a DCC account using their national provider identification number, city and ZIP code.

Although DCC provides job matching services, employers cannot hire directly through the website.

According to the website, DCC is administered by nonprofit research and consulting company Altarum through a cooperative agreement with state systems designer ADvancing States, both of which serve government health foundations.
