He comes to DIR from his most recent role as senior director of technology for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), where he worked nearly 14 years. Prior to that, he served as a network analyst at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In a LinkedIn post announcing the move, Myers reflected on his time at THECB and the value he brings to the position:
“I’m deeply grateful for every mentor, colleague and friend who invested in me, encouraged me and trusted me along the way,” he wrote. “As I join DIR, my hope is to bring forward everything I’ve learned and continue serving with the same commitment and humility that THECB helped instill in me. I’m excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the path that led me here.”
He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer and information technology administration and management from St. Edward’s University.
Myers joins DIR during a time of substantial leadership change. Chief AI and Innovation Officer Tony Sauerhoff is now serving as interim CIO as the agency repositions key leadership roles to support evolving state technology priorities.
