The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is in the research phase of ongoing efforts to automate recruitment.

According to a request for information (RFI) released by the agency, TxDOT is surveying the market on industry standards, current system capabilities, implementation approaches, cost structures and any additional information that will assist in their search for a replacement for its recruiting system.

In its strategic plan for fiscal years 2025-29, TxDOT listed task automation as one of its top priorities.

To reach its goal of improving the accuracy of core functions and minimizing waste, the agency expects to spend $211 million on technology upgrades and $36 million for legacy systems modernization.

In TxDOT’s legislative appropriations request (LAR) for fiscal year 2026-27, the agency included a $167 million request for technology acquisitions and $19 million for legacy modernization.
