The California Department of Technology’s (CDT) Information Security Leadership Academy (ISLA) is accepting applications from public-sector professionals working in information security.
The 10-week program, which will be delivered mostly online, runs from Aug. 13 through Oct. 16.
While ISLA will continue to have a strong technical focus, this year’s program includes more courses that will help state IT leaders better understand how to lead from a business perspective, according to CDT’s deputy director for the Office of Professional Development, Crystal Holcomb, who oversees CDT’s leadership academy efforts.
In addition to course offerings, students will also receive preparation and an exam voucher for the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification. More information regarding this year’s program is available via the ISLA webpage.
Students are selected from state, county and city agencies and departments in California that work in information security. Ideal candidates are currently serving in a supervisory or managerial position within the information security area and who seek a position as an information security officer or agency information security officer.
Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. June 16 and must include authorization from the prospective candidate’s chief information officer to be considered.
Questions regarding this year’s program should be directed to ISLA@state.ca.gov.
