The state’s leading technology executives and industry representatives, as well as tech leaders from local government and education, will present their insights on information security during the Cybersecurity Education Summit, scheduled for Thursday in Sacramento.
“The 2023 California Cybersecurity Education Summit provides an opportunity for government technology professionals to learn about the latest efforts to defend, respond and recover from cyber criminals who wish to do harm,” the event announcement says. The Summit is hosted by the California Department of Technology (CDT), the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES), the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the California Military Department (CalGuard).
State government’s top tech leaders who will speak at the annual conference include Liana Bailey-Crimmins, the state chief information officer and CDT director; John Cleveland, deputy state CISO; and Vitaliy Panych, the state’s chief information security officer. A roster of other government and industry leaders will also speak and participate in the numerous breakout sessions scheduled throughout the day.
The event, presented by Government Technology*, Industry Insider — California’s sister publication, will begin with registration at 8 a.m. Thursday at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento. The event will conclude with a networking session from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. Registration information is available online.
Topics of the day’s numerous concurrent sessions include “Third-Party Risk Management,” “Building and Maintaining the Cyber Workforce,” “Blueprint for Cybersecurity: Harmonizing with State and Federal Strategies,” and “Maximizing AI's Role in Cyber Defense.” A full breakdown of the day’s sessions, and the panelists in each, can be found on the event page.
“The California Cybersecurity Education Summit is an essential event for security professionals and educators in the public and private sectors,” said state CISO Panych. “It is a yearly focal point in the ongoing mission to safeguard Californians against cyber threats that have the potential to disrupt daily activities and impede our ability to provide services. It is also an opportunity to introduce the cybersecurity field to, and educate, our next-generation workforce. I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to see everyone at this in-person event in 2023 to exchange ideas about the latest trends, training, and techniques to bolster our state’s security. We encourage you to join CDT, CalOES, CHP, and the CA Military Department at the Cybersecurity Education Summit.”
