CDT Accepting Applications for Project Management Leadership Academy

“Due to the rigor associated with the program, it is helpful to possess at least one year of direct or indirect project management experience,” the announcement says.

The California Department of Technology  (CDT) has begun accepting applications for its Project Management Leadership Academy (PMLA), a training ground specially designed for public-sector professionals seeking to develop and enhance their project management leadership skills.

“PMLA blends formal training and a Project Management Experience component,” the department says in this week’s edition of the “CDT Connect” newsletter. “In addition to formal classroom instruction, each student will be paired with a highly experienced project manager they will meet with weekly during the program to share lessons learned, provide advice and insight as it relates to project management, and job shadow meetings of interest.”

The academy has been expanded from eight weeks to 10 weeks, allowing students to maximize opportunities associated with their Project Management Experience.

The 10-week program runs from May 11 through July 20 and is open to public-sector professionals. There are no job classification prerequisites, and those new to the field of project management are ideal candidates. “Due to the rigor associated with the program, it is helpful to possess at least one year of direct or indirect project management experience,” the CDT announcement says.

Applicants must submit a signed authorization from their chief information officer or equivalent program executive as part of their submission. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on March 10. To learn more about the program or to apply, visit the PMLA webpage.
