CDT Names IT Veteran Haase Deputy Director of Strategic Initiatives

A veteran of state government technology has been named deputy director of strategic initiatives for the California Department of Technology.

In a statement Tuesday to Techwire, Haase said: “I’m looking forward to helping lead the next iteration of government technology and working with the talented teams that bring those initiatives to life.”

State Chief Information Officer Amy Tong, director of CDT, said she’s pleased with Haase’s appointment.

Haase was named chief of statewide technology policy in 2019, according to CDT, and her most recent assignment was serving as project manager for the COVID-19 Vaccine Project and Innovation and Technology Task Force.

“In these roles, she oversaw the state’s provider network and vaccine distribution efforts as eligibility expanded to youths aged 12-15, and she coordinated IT systems and data decisions in the early days of the pandemic,” according to a CDT news release.

Previously, Haase served from 2016 to 2019 as an IT manager in the Office of Enterprise Technology’s Internal Projects Branch, where she oversaw a portfolio of complex initiatives including AB 434, governing statewide website remediation. “Haase coordinated efforts of 70 departments that had submitted remediation plans and guided them to full compliance,” CDT said.

Before her most recent assignments with CDT, Haase was with California Correctional Health Care Servicesfrom 2014 to 2016, leading a staff of 25 in the IT Management and Analysis Branch. She also spent eight years, from 2006 to 2014, in CDT’s Customer Delivery Division as an account director for departments with the largest annual revenues, including the Department of Motor Vehicles, Child Welfare Services, the Department of Child Support Services and the California Department of Transportation.

Haase’s service with the state also includes having served as a project manager and project lead for the Department of Conservation and the Department of Water Resources.

Haase holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento. She is certified by the Project Management Institute in project management, and she has completed the Leadership and Change Management Program at Sac State and state leadership programs in information technology and project management.
