Here Are State Tech Department’s Top Purchases of IT Goods During April

The state technology agency made 38 purchases of IT goods in April and spent nearly $4 million in just its top five expenditures.

The California Department of Technology spent exactly $3,957,086.73 last month on its five largest purchases. Here, with rounding, is where that money went, based on data in the State Contracting and Procurement Registration System:

• $1.7 million to Zones LLC for Microsoft Performance Support – apparently, support for Microsoft products that are likely existing. This is a one-year contract that began April 10 and ends April 9, 2022.
  
• $780,000 to Compuware for “MNF-Compuware Suite Software License and Support Renewal,” potentially the renewal of licensing and support for multi-network firewall, for its Compuware Suite. This is a three-year contract that runs from April 1-March 31, 2024.
  
• $654,000 with CDW Government LLC for “CommVault Complete Backup and Recovery ... per front-end TB,” “quantity of 560 x 12 months,” for a total quantity of 6,720. That’s likely the purchase of Commvault Complete Backup and Recovery, possibly a deployment of the company’s platform to safeguard Microsoft Office 365 products. That, too, is a three-year contract from April 1-March 31, 2024.
  
• $447,000 with Presidio Networked Solutions Group for “Cisco Hardware – Cisco ASR920 Series – 24 GE Fiber and 4-10GE Modular PSU.” That’s likely a reference to Cisco’s ASR 920-series routers. This is a one-year contract, from April 1-March 31, 2022.
  
• $374,000 with NWN Corp., for “HP 830 G7 i7 16GB 256SSD Laptops,” likely the purchase of a quantity of HP EliteBook 830 G7 laptops. This is a five-year contract, that runs April 27-April 26, 2026.
