Information Security Leadership Academy Accepting Applications

“With the evolution of AI and other emerging technologies, it is more important than ever that our workforce remain nimble and prepared for cyber attacks,” said Crystal Holcomb, deputy director of the Office of Professional Development.

The California Department of Technology’s (CDT) Information Security Leadership Academy (ISLA) is accepting applications from public-sector professionals working in information security.

The nine-week program, which will be delivered mostly online, runs from Aug. 5 through Oct. 3.

“With the evolution of AI and other emerging technologies, it is more important than ever that our workforce remain nimble and prepared for cyber attacks,” said Crystal Holcomb, deputy director of the Office of Professional Development, who oversees CDT’s leadership academy efforts. “I take great pride in the high-value training ISLA provides and am excited that 2024 marks our seventh offering of this unique program specially designed for security professionals.”

Course offerings will include information critical for the state’s security workforce as well as preparation and an exam voucher for the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification. More information is available at the ISLA webpage.

Students are selected from local state, county and city agencies and departments in California that work in information security. Ideal candidates are currently serving in a supervisory or managerial position within the information security area and who seek a position as an information security officer or agency information security officer.

Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. June 3 and must include authorization from the prospective candidate’s chief information officer to be considered.
