STATE LOTTERY
Chief Strategy Officer/Assistant Deputy Director (IT Manager II)

“The incumbent serves as a technology generalist and acts as a representative of the Lottery for internal and external contacts related to the areas of strategic support,” the job posting says. Responsibilities encompass IT strategic planning; enterprise architecture services, gaming application support and quality management; gaming vendor management; IT budgeting, procurements and contracting; IT policy development; and general IT administrative services.

Desirable qualifications include:
  • Strong knowledge of supervisory and management principles, practices and techniques to oversee the work activities of subordinate staff to ensure the operation functions effectively.
  • Experience in IT procurements and acquisitions, IT budget management, and general IT administrative services.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards and processes.
  • Knowledge of and experience in project management, portfolio management, and architecture/technology governance processes.

CDT
Database Administrator (IT Manager I)
$9,114 to $12,213 per month

The database administrator will manage complex statewide IT policy development projects and develop policies to support and implement IT throughout state government. “The work requires knowledge of the infrastructure and platform and analysis to determine the nature and scope of the problems in addition to future direction of the platform,” the job posting says.

The incumbent oversees the staff in the MidRange DBMS Support section, which is responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance and problem resolution of the MidRange DBMS database platform at CDT’s data center and in the cloud.

Desirable qualifications include:
  • Knowledge of MidRange DBMS databases and software
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data services
  • Knowledge of operating systems software

CDCR
Platform/Engineer Specialist (IT Specialist II)
$8,374 to $11,220 per month

The incumbent works in Offender Management Solutions, serving as the technical expert and specialist on the architecture, planning, development and maintenance of the CDCR Kubernetes Platform. The specialist acts as lead on projects involving the design and implementation of the platform, enterprise applications, data and security configurations.

The incumbent will demonstrate leadership and expertise in software, device, database, system and information security engineering and perform tasks requiring innovative problem-solving where guidance is not readily available. The incumbent is expected to be a subject matter expert in the functional technology domains and to take projects from concept to operations using agile methodology.

Desirable qualifications for the role include:
  • Advanced Kubernetes certification (certified Kubernetes administrator or higher certification).
  • Cloud provider certifications: At least one cloud platform certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Engineer).
  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Knowledge: Familiarity with SRE practices for improving system reliability.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies including virtualization and cloud.
  • Experience managing agile teams of professionals and effectively coaching them to achieve high performance.
