Newsom Appoints Kate Ricker to CDT Executive Position

Gov. Gavin Newsom has appointed Bend, Ore., resident Kate Ricker to the role of deputy director for state technology policy and strategic management within the California Department of Technology.

Gov. Gavin Newsom this week announced the appointment of Kate Ricker to the role of deputy director of state technology policy and strategic management at the California Department of Technology (CDT).

Ricker, a resident of Bend, Ore., was most recently the CEO and principal consultant at Amelia Mayme Consulting. She has also served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health since 2019.

No stranger to state government, Ricker served as the state health IT director for the Office of Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper between 2013 and 2016, and also held a high-level policy position with the Colorado Regional Health Information Organization in 2013.

Ricker holds a Master of Science in technology management from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Tennessee.
