Registration Underway for CDT Leadership Boot Camp

The virtual Emerging IT Leaders Boot Camp is a virtual statewide program designed for entry-level IT supervisors, managers and other leaders in the public sector. Twenty students will be accepted for the next course, which runs from Aug. 14 to Sept. 8.

The California Department of Technology (CDT) is accepting applications for its virtual Emerging IT Leaders Boot Camp (EITL BC), a statewide program designed for entry-level IT supervisors, managers and leaders in the public sector.

The online curriculum, which runs from Aug. 14 to Sept. 8, will help participants hone their skills and emphasizes best practices for managing remote or hybrid workforce environments. Participants will be in class three or four days per week for the duration. CDT’s Office of Professional Development will send all registered participants the Program Schedule and Calendar for planning and discussion with their supervisors once the registration period closes.

Twenty participants will be accepted, and registration is first-come, first-served, and will stop when the 20 seats are filled. Candidates’ supervisors must approve applications, and the $3,500 cost, as well as a 17 percent cost-distribution fee for CDT, will be billed to participants’ departments.

“The delivery model incorporates courses that will be taught by experienced vendor partners and IT executives,” the EITL overview explains. “Throughout the program, participants will learn and grow through contributions to group discussions, shared experiences, and exposure to critical concepts impacting government entities, such as the state’s budget, IT project and IT procurement processes, conflict resolution, human-centered design, emotional intelligence, and presentation skills.”

The course is one of several career development opportunities that CDT offers to government employees in California. Others are the flagship Information Technology Leadership Academy, a training ground for aspiring chief information officers and other tech leaders; the Project Management Leadership Academy; the Digital Services Innovation Academy; and the Information Security Leadership Academy. In addition to EITL, CDT also offers a Cybersecurity Boot Camp.
