California Department of Technology
Information Security Architect (IT Specialist II)
$8,625 to $11,557 per month

The information security architect provides advanced technical support for the state’s Windows Server environment and is responsible for designing, configuring, securing and maintaining Microsoft Windows Server products and related infrastructure. The position focuses heavily on system automation, troubleshooting and problem resolution across both physical and cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities include managing the installation, configuration and security of technologies such as Microsoft System Center products, Active Directory and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools. The role also involves developing and maintaining automation processes for server provisioning, remediating security vulnerabilities and ensuring compliance with established network architecture guidelines.

Desired qualifications include:
  • High degree of skill and knowledge of the System Center suite of products, current Windows Server Operating Systems and Windows Server services, SIEM tools and processes.
  • Must maintain regular, consistent and predictable attendance, and have the ability to consistently exercise good judgement.

Franchise Tax Board
Enterprise Database Management Unit C Manager (IT Manager I)
$9,387 to $12,579 per month

The IT manager I serves as the enterprise database management unit manager within the Infrastructure Services Bureau, overseeing a team of database administrators and managing the department’s complex technical projects. This role reports to the assistant bureau director and carries full managerial responsibility, including planning, directing and coordinating critical assignments that impact the Franchise Tax Board’s (FTB) enterprise-wide systems.

Core responsibilities include leading the day-to-day operations of enterprise database teams, ensuring secure, efficient and reliable database administration to support FTB’s programs. The role also drives enterprise-wide projects involving both existing and emerging technologies, balancing functionality, security, cost-effectiveness and mission-critical performance across platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, SAP Sybase and Data Lake systems.

The incumbent is also tasked with developing staff through coaching, training, and career planning to build capacity and align individual strengths with departmental objectives.

Desired qualifications include:
  • Experience in managing all activities associated with the operations of complex large-scale IT services, emerging technology solutions, mission-critical systems, and platforms/environments.
  • Experience using MS Team Foundation Server (TFS)/Azure DevOps Server.
  • Experience communicating effectively, orally, and in writing, analytical skills, including the ability to convey highly technical information in an understandable manner.
  • Experience in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Project Management Principles; DBMS administration; DB2, SQL Server, Oracle database platform; Database administration tools such as: DBArtisan, MS Management Studio, Idera, DB2 Data Server Manager, etc.; Working in Linux and/or Unix environment; and, big data technology such as Hadoop, Hive, Data Lake, etc.
  • Ability to lead teams through organizational change.

County of Santa Clara Superior Court
IT Director and Cybersecurity Officer
$165,604 to $221,960 per year

The IT director and cybersecurity officer reports to the chief information officer and is responsible for overseeing the court’s technology strategy, operations and security. A critical responsibility is cybersecurity — from protecting systems and managing vulnerabilities to enforcing compliance and risk mitigation. The director also serves as acting CIO when necessary.

This executive role requires both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with judges, court executives, staff, vendors and partner agencies. The IT director plays a central role in shaping the court’s information systems, designing and implementing technology frameworks, and leading high-level planning for hardware, software, data and security. The position demands deep knowledge of emerging technologies, IT security and organizational leadership, along with the ability to foster innovation, collaboration and a security-first culture within the court.

Desired qualifications include:
  • Advanced principles of information systems, IT security and infrastructure architecture, including enterprise network frameworks, strategic IT planning and systems integration at scale.
  • Emerging technology trends and strategic relevance, such as cloud computing, microservices, AI/ML applications, edge computing and modular architectures that support scalable and agile solutions.
  • Public access and open data strategies, particularly as they pertain to government and judicial information systems, ensuring compliance with accessibility and transparency mandates.
  • Core management principles, including budget development and execution, financial forecasting and vendor governance, aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Project management methodologies and tools, including cost estimation, project planning, risk tracking and coordination across teams and stakeholders.
