State Offers Product, Services Information

A key state department has delivered the inaugural edition of a resource for IT-related information.

There’s a new source of information on IT-related products and services at the state.

The California Department of Technology (CDT) on Wednesday announced the inaugural edition of CDT Connect: OTech Edition. In introducing it, CDT Director and state Chief Information Officer Liana Bailey-Crimmins said it’s a “new, quarterly newsletter designed to enhance our communication, a top priority identified in our latest CDT Business Partner Survey.”

CDT Connect: OTech Edition is written with your priorities in mind and to keep you up to date on developments at CDT. We believe your success is our success,” Bailey-Crimmins said in the newsletter’s welcome message. “OTech will continue to evolve its service provider and financial model to align with your business needs. We are prioritizing increased transparency, enhancing value-added products and improving affordability — all of which you will learn about in coming issues.” This edition of the newsletter features three aspects of CDT’s products, services and accomplishments:

  • Options for off-premises cloud services offered by CDT, including California Managed Cloud (CAMC) Hosting, to satisfy the needs of the department’s customers.
  • Information on the renewal and improvement process for expiring CALNET 3 contracts, which are known as CALNET NextGen, as transitions near.
  • Information on three technologies the state offers as part of the OTech zSystems platform, including a “user-friendly tool” to enable data access and another capable of easing data analysis.
The newsletter also offers a poll on future services and highlights the Statewide Technology Leadership Forum July 25, the Tech Talk with CDT Sept. 25, and notes a vendor forum will be coming in December. Subscribe here. And stay tuned.

“We look forward to partnering with you to realize California’s statewide technology strategic plan, Vision 2023,” Bailey-Crimmins said. “As you read about our activities, I invite you to share your feedback on future CDT Connect: OTech Edition topics. I am very excited about our future and look forward to hearing from you.”
