California’s state and local officials once again have a prominent place in Government Technology’s annual list of Top 25 "Doers, Dreamers and Drivers."

The 2016 honorees announced Thursday include "Team California" — Tim Garza, the IT director for the California Natural Resources Agency; and the CIOs for five departments under the agency — in recognition of their leadership as the state leveraged an IT framework to help continue providing services during a severe drought.

Team California includes (left to right): Ronald Ralph, CIO, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection; Tom Lupo, CIO, California Department of Fish and Wildlife; John Laird, Secretary, California Natural Resources Agency; Rita Gass, CIO, California Conservation Corps; Tim Garza, IT Director, California Natural Resources Agency, and CIO, California Department of Water Resources; and Phil Minas, CIO, California Department of Parks and Recreation. Accela CEO Maury Blackman — who contributes commentary to Techwire — also was named to the Top 25 list. Read about Blackman here.

The Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers recognize the public sector’s most innovative change-makers. Since 2002, the award has recognized nearly 400 people.
