Tracking the Spend: DMV’s Top IT Goods Purchases in November

One of California’s best-known state departments made notable IT-related hardware and software expenditures in November.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) made 17 such purchases and spent $3,649,305.44 on its five most expensive buys of IT services — most of that with one company, for devices. Here’s more information, with rounding, on what the department spent:

• $2.2 million with NWN Solutions for laptop computers. This was a brief contract or collaboration from Nov. 30-Dec. 14.
• $465,000 with Strato Communications for Octane software, potentially OctaneRender by OTOY. This is a one-year contract from Nov. 30-Nov. 29, 2023.
• $435,000 with Visionary Integration Professionals to renew maintenance on Exstream software from OpenText. This, too, is a one-year contract from Nov. 1-Oct. 31, 2023.
• $300,000 with SLED IT Solutions to renew support for Fortinet hardware. This is a one-year contract from Nov. 30-Nov. 30, 2023.
• $255,000 with StackNexus for Copado implementation services into ALM Octane by Micro Focus. This is a roughly seven-month contract from Nov. 9-May 8, 2023.
