Fresno County
This week’s approval by the Board of Supervisors completes a realignment of IT and General Services, with the goal of streamlining and focusing the county’s work in technology. Raymond T. Hunter was named director of General Services as part of the realignment.
County officials hope the restructuring will make its IT function more focused and streamlined.
“You can almost look at it like a software subscription,” said Eric Matthews, the county deputy CIO. “It’s very common for organizations that don’t do leasing to hang onto equipment well past their end of life because of the huge expense it costs to replace it.”
A costly scam perpetrated against the city of Fresno in 2020 could have been halted, a Fresno County Civil Grand Jury found. In a report released last week, the jury noted that city practices have since been improved.

The estimated cost for the camera program — for managing recorded video, service and maintenance, technology support, and more — would be about $3.2 million over five years. The county will also use a federal grant for $430,000.
