The Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) intends to modernize internal processes and statewide community-based care systems, according to its strategic plan for fiscal years 2025-2029.

The agency lists IT enhancements as part of two of its goals: establishing effective and efficient operations and improving community-based care.

DFPS plans to solicit vendors for emerging technologies capable of optimizing the agency’s operational efficiency, including cybersecurity enhancements. The same goes for the agency’s community-based care services and systems, which DFPS plans to transition statewide.

At an Industry Insider — Texas member briefing in May, DFPS Chief Information Officer Drew McGrath cited a new, cloud-based case management system as the agency’s top priority.

In June, DFPS released a request for information on options for modernizing its child welfare case management system, Information Management Protecting Adults and Children in Texas (IMPACT).
