Speakers Set to Address California State of Technology Conference

The Aug. 22 event in Sacramento will include government leaders’ forecasts on future initiatives impacting IT across the state, and it’s designed for sales and marketing leaders seeking to “turbocharge business strategies and validate sales and marketing activities.”

The speakers are set and the agenda ready for this year’s State of Technology – California Industry Forum 2024, a half-day conference to be held in August that will bring together market analysts and key government leaders.

The event, sponsored by Industry Insider — California, will include their forecasts on future initiatives impacting IT across the state, and it’s designed for sales and marketing leaders seeking to “turbocharge business strategies and validate sales and marketing activities,” according to the event announcement and registration page.

The conference begins with registration at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 22, followed by the general session at 1 p.m. and a networking session from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. It will be held at the Hilton Sacramento Arden West, and registration and other information is available online.

Three key speakers will address participants:
  • Liana Bailey-Crimmins, the state chief information officer and director of the California Department of Technology (CDT). Bailey-Crimmins is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and forums and offers perspectives from her role as the state’s ranking technology executive. She has more than 30 years of state government technology experience in a range of pivotal roles, and she is tasked with improving technology performance as an investment in California’s future and advises the governor on the strategic management of the state’s technology resources.
  • Marcie Kahbody, deputy secretary and agency information officer for the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) as well as chief information officer for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), one of CalSTA’s subordinate entities. Kahbody is the top technology executive in state government’s transportation hierarchy, which also includes the Department of Motor Vehicles, the California Highway Patrol, the High-Speed Rail Authority and others.
  • Crystal Taylor, the newly appointed chief information officer for the Department of Health Care Services and deputy director for DHCS’ Enterprise Technology Services. Taylor, who has a deep background in state government, has directed state project portfolios, developed and implemented project management processes and tools, managed technology operations and systems, testified to the Executive Branch and Legislative Committees on state programs and budgets, and overseen the day-to-day operations of state offices.
