As part of Techwire’s ongoing efforts to educate readers on state agencies, their IT plans and initiatives, here’s the latest in our periodic series of interviews with departmental IT and cybersecurity leaders.
The main responsibility of the role is managing the provision of public safety and IT services including computing infrastructure and security, voice, data, radio, and video communications on a 24/7 basis, according to the job posting.
In a Request for Information, the Northern California local government wants to hear from vendors ahead of a possible Request for Proposals on a comprehensive solution.
Responsibilities of the position include setting objectives and goals and establishing workload priorities; securing equipment and training as needed by staff; and establishing performance metrics, workload tracking and other measures to inform the decision-making process.

“I’ve always aligned with Microsoft’s culture (without even knowing it),” Ayineh told Techwire. “For example, the growth mindset, one of our principles here, has been one of my biggest personal mantras for years now.”
“I am hopeful this approach of condensing and aligning these prior efforts into Cal-Secure can succeed in maturing the state’s cybersecurity posture,” said Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, the Ventura County Democrat who chairs the Assembly’s Select Committee on Cybersecurity.
“It’s an emerging technology and an emerging company, and there’s a lot of growth,” Joseph Schwartz told Techwire. “I do know there are quite a few positions that are opening all across the board (sales, technical and support) and there’s a lot of growth. That’s something I will help with as part of my role here.”
The California State Lottery and the California Department of Technology are looking to fill gaming application support supervisor and IT manager I positions, respectively.
Candidates are sought by the California Employment Development Department, the Department of Motor Vehicles, the California Department of Public Health, the state Department of Justice and the California Department of Technology.
